Systems Theory Lecture Series presented by Dr. David Jones

“How we function in our family of origin is how we function in our church family”. David Lee Jones, ThD, June 2009

Family systems theory and how it manifests itself into our FUUCA family will be the focus of this 4-part lecture series sponsored by Adult Religious Education and presented by Dr. David Jones, Director of Doctor of Ministry Program at Austin Presbyterian Theology Seminary.

As the Public Affairs Forum does not meet in July and August, the perfect time and location is established. Location is Howson Hall, time is 11:30 a.m. and dates are Sunday July 5th and 26th, August 2nd and 23rd.

All are welcome including the larger community of Central Texas. For more information, contact “Seaufy” Peg Frey for more information at peg@austinuu.org.

The Interim Minister Search Task Force is pleased to announce the acceptance of the Rev. Janet Newman to be our Interim Minister beginning September 1, 2009. Rev. Newman has worked with two dozen congregations over the last several decades in the United States and Canada; she has specialized training in this type of work and has reached the status of Accredited Interim Minister with the Unitarian Universalist denomination. The congregation she is leaving is Birmingham Unitarian Church of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Rev. Newman says she is looking forward to working with First Church and plans to visit us in June (June 15-18), a chance to visit various committees and do a bit of real estate hunting; though her contract begins in September, she actually intends to move here in mid-August to get a running start.

There is more information at her web site: http://www.janetnewman.com/mirror/v1/index.html . The June newsletter will include a letter from Reverend Newman to the congregation.
