Sunday Services

Worship Services

Services are held every Sunday in our sanctuary at 9:45 am and 11:30 am. To view the sermon topic for this week, please visit the Weekly Announcements.

**NOTE** From 6/6/2010 – 8/29/2010, Sunday service will be at 10:00 only.  Regular service hours will resume in September.

Services last approximately one hour and include singing, readings from secular or sacred sources, a period of silent meditation, choral or instrumental music, a prayer, and a sermon on a religious, ethical, historical, or life issues theme. The sermon topic is typically published on the church’s home page and archives can be found on the sermons page. Following each worship service is a social time to which all guests and visitors are cordially invited.

Children are welcome at our services. We normally have a short story or homily specifically for them, after which the children are excused to go to their religious education classes. (Children are also welcome to remain with their family for the whole service. Infant and toddler care is provided during the service and at all church events by paid, trained staff.

The first and third Sundays are what we call “Split the Plate” Sunday. Half of the plate offerings are shared with a local non-profit organization that reflects UU values and principles. This is one of our many social action programs.

Our facility is mostly accessible to people with disabilities. If you have a request for an accommodation, please contact the church in advance or notify one of the ushers.

Public Affairs Forum

The church hosts public speakers and presentations on a wide range of current affairs, at 11:30 a.m., in Howson Hall. The topic for the public forum each week is published on the church’s home page and on the calendar of events. Public forums are not held during the summer.

Forums are rebroadcast on Cable Channel 10 every Sunday, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Religious Education

Age-appropriate religious education classes are offered every Sunday, for children, youth, and adults. The children and youth classes are started after the “Story for All Ages,” which is about 15 minutes after the start of worship services, and run for one hour.

More detailed information about the classes and curriculum can be found in the Religious Education section.
